Edwin Dorn

Ed Dorn’s career has included service in government, think tanks and academia, and extensive involvement with nonprofit organizations. His interests include both domestic policy and defense policy. Mr. Dorn was dean of the LBJ School from 1997 to 2004. Prior to that, he served as Under Secretary of Defense (Personnel and Readiness) during the first Clinton administration. His Washington experience also included service in the Department of Health, Education and Welfare, the Joint Center for Political Studies, and the Brookings Institution. His active duty military service was with the U.S. Army in Germany. He chairs the board of the Kettering Foundation and chairs the visiting committee of the Institute for Defense Analyses. Mr. Dorn graduated from the University of Texas (Phi Beta Kappa), studied at the Center for West African Studies in Birmingham, England, and completed his Ph.D. (with distinction) at Yale.
